Freshman Senator will serve on Commerce, Energy & Natural Resources, HELP and Small Business committees

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper has landed assignments on key Senate committees for the 117th Congress. The freshman Senator will serve on four committees that position him to deliver for Coloradans across the state:

Committee on Energy and Natural Resources: The Energy and Natural Resources Committee oversees national energy policy, the National Park Service, and public lands administered by the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service.

Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions: The HELP Committee conducts oversight and considers legislation involving education, health care, labor standards, aging, student loans, support for people with disabilities, and other issues.

Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation: The Commerce Committee has jurisdiction over interstate commerce; communications; regulation of consumer products and services; highway safety and transportation; oceans, weather, and atmospheric activities; and science, engineering, and technology research.

Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship: The Small Business Committee oversees the Small Business Administration and considers other legislation related to small business. The committee also investigates problems facing the small business community and compiles federal resources.

“Senate committees may not receive wall-to-wall coverage on cable news, but they are crucial to the job — where key legislation is crafted, debated and approved,” said Hickenlooper. “We have secured committee assignments that can have significant impact over issues that Coloradans care about: health care, transportation, climate and small business. We look forward to rolling up our sleeves and getting to work!
