Hickenlooper Hires Azarel Madrigal in San Luis Valley

Washington, D.C. – Today, Senator John Hickenlooper announced Azarel Madrigal, formerly Executive Director of the First Southwest Community Fund, as his Regional Director in the San Luis Valley.

“Azarel knows Southern Colorado – its people, its unique issues, its history,” said Senator Hickenlooper. “Her collaborative approach and her dedication to long-overlooked communities will make a real difference for San Luis Valley families. We’re so excited to welcome her to Team Hick.”

“I’ve long admired Senator Hickenlooper’s dedication to cooperation and bipartisan leadership in bettering the lives of Coloradans,” said Madrigal. “I am excited to join the Senator’s team and eager to collaborate on policy that truly benefits all of Colorado, with a special focus on the needs of rural communities.”

Madrigal is currently a Colorado Governor’s Fellow with CiviCO, a non-profit, leadership development organization that brings together thought leaders from all industries that want to better their communities.

Prior to joining Hickenlooper’s team, she served as Program Director and, later, as Executive Director at the First Southwest Community Fund, supporting entrepreneurs and fostering equitable access to capital for underserved communities in Colorado.
