WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper and 61 of his Senate colleagues celebrated the Senate passage of their bipartisan resolution celebrating Black History Month and the important contributions made by Black Americans throughout United States history.
The senators wrote that Black History month provides “an opportunity to reflect on the complex history of the United States, while remaining hopeful and confident about the path ahead.”
The resolution also “acknowledges that all people of the United States are the recipients of the wealth of history provided by Black culture” and “encourages the celebration of Black History Month to provide a continuing opportunity for all people in the United States to learn from the past and understand the experiences that have shaped the United States.”
