Hickenlooper, Cassidy, Capito Introduce Bipartisan Resolution Recognizing October 2026 as National Dyslexia Awareness Month

Sep 30, 2026

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senators John Hickenlooper, Bill Cassidy, and Shelley Moore Capito introduced a bipartisan resolution recognizing October 2026 as National Dyslexia Awareness Month.

“As someone with dyslexia, I know firsthand how important the right tools and resources can be,” said Hickenlooper. “This Dyslexia Awareness Month, let’s renew our commitment to ensuring everyone has the support they need to thrive.”

“As the father of a daughter with dyslexia, this is deeply personal to me,” said Cassidy. “Children with dyslexia are bright; they just learn differently. This October we are raising awareness and continuing to promote early screening so children with dyslexia are identified and given the resources they need to reach their full potential.”

Hickenlooper and Cassidy have also introduced the 21st Century Dyslexia Act, which incorporates the modern, scientific understanding of dyslexia into federal law.
