WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper lauded President Biden’s nomination of current Department of Labor Deputy Secretary Julie Su to succeed Marty Walsh as secretary of the Department of Labor.
“A good life starts with a good job, but a lack of investment in our workforce pipelines and erosion of worker rights is holding people back,” said Hickenlooper, chair of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions’ Subcommittee on Employment and Workforce Safety. “Julie Su will be a labor secretary who can build a 21st century workforce from the bottom up.”
Long a champion for workers, Su brings decades of experience to the department, including work on wage theft, anti-trafficking measures, and training partnerships that connect Americans to good-paying jobs, with or without a four-year degree.
