Hey Colorado,
This week, the Senate passed our bipartisan bill to create the Amache National Historic Site near Granada, Colorado. Thousands of Japanese-Americans were interned by the U.S. government at Camp Amache during World War II. We visited Amache last month and heard from students who help preserve the site’s history and the survivors’ stories. Take a look:
Japanese internment is a dark stain on our past. This new designation will help ensure that history never repeats. I look forward to President Biden signing our bill into law very soon. Be sure to stop by the new Amache National Historic Site next time you’re in Southeast Colorado, and stay tuned for more updates from Washington!
