Hickenlooper Statement of Support for JBS Workers Planning to Strike

Mar 12, 2026

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper released the following statement in support of UFCW Local 7 workers fighting for fair compensation at the JBS meat processing plant in Greeley:

“The right to bargain collectively is how working people win fair deals, and that’s exactly what JBS workers are doing. They are the backbone of this company and deserve to share in its success.

“A fair agreement is within reach. Both sides should stay at the table until the deal is done.”

Hickenlooper is the only card-carrying union member in the U.S. Senate. He chairs the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) subcommittee on Employment and Workplace Safety and is a cosponsor of the Protect America’s Workforce Act, which would repeal two union-busting executive orders and restore collective bargaining rights and workplace protections for federal workers.

Hickenlooper is vocal about the link between lower union membership and growing income inequality and has supported striking union workers at Starbucks, King Soopers, and Kaiser in their fight for better working conditions.
