Hickenlooper Announces $79.3 Million for Colorado Communities in 2024 Annual Funding Bills

Jul 31, 2023

Seventy-six projects worth $67 million were specifically requested by Hickenlooper and have received initial backing

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper today announced the inclusion of over $79.3 million in funding for projects across Colorado. Hickenlooper himself secured more than $67 million for 76 projects across 49 communities and 35 counties through the congressionally directed spending (CDS) process.

“We’re helping Colorado grow by ensuring we get our fair share,” said Hickenlooper. “From rural health clinics to food banks and water treatment facilities, these projects are being driven by Coloradans themselves, not a federal bureaucrat.”

To qualify, CDS requests must be submitted by local governments or non-profits. Senators may then submit these projects for consideration in one of the nine annual funding bills that accept CDS requests. Congress must now negotiate and pass the individual bills to fund the federal government in 2024. Those individual funding bills include these CDS requests.

Last year Hickenlooper secured $66.6 million for 62 projects across Colorado, helping fund projects that address priorities across the state including investments in affordable housing, clean energy, health care, and more.

Of the $79.3 million total for Colorado in the final omnibus funding bill, Hickenlooper secured $67 million in funding for 76 projects. A full list of the fiscal year 2024 projects secured by Hickenlooper is available below.
