Hey!
Last week we were back in Western Colorado to hear from folks about their communities and discuss our Inflation Reduction Act, the boldest bill to fight climate change EVER!
First stop was Mayfly Outdoors, which is helping grow Colorado’s stellar outdoor recreation economy. When I first visited as Governor, they were just breaking ground. Now, they’re attracting other businesses and creating tons of jobs in Montrose!
We also celebrated the signing of the Inflation Reduction Act at the Delta Montrose Electric Association. The IRA contains billions for rural electric co-ops like DMEA to transition and expand renewable energy sources. We also discussed how it’s going to help lower costs of everything from prescription drugs to electricity.
We toured the Uncompahgre Combined Clinic in Norwood and spoke with health care providers about how rural communities can maintain access to affordable, high-quality health care. Our Inflation Reduction Act extends health care savings to people across Colorado.
In Rico, we chatted with community leaders about how the $2.5 million we secured for Main Street will create jobs and help small businesses grow. We ended the day in Dolores to hear about the important work to protect the Dolores River. In Washington, I recently joined Senator Bennet’s multi-year effort to transform the community’s vision into bipartisan legislation.
Traveling throughout Colorado and hearing directly from you is one of the most important parts of this job. Stay tuned for more updates on the road. See you soon!
Sincerely,
Senator John Hickenlooper
