REGIONAL OUTREACH DIRECTOR - WEST METRO/I-70 WEST CORRIDOR
Colorado Senator John Hickenlooper — a former geologist turned brewpub owner turned elected official — seeks a Regional Outreach Director to serve as a liaison to West Metro and I-70 West communities. The position requires travel throughout the metro and Front Range region.
Principal responsibilities of this position include:
- Building and maintaining relationships with community leaders at all levels and with local government representatives;
- Attending and convening community events to listen and discuss the Senator’s work and federal happenings;
- Advising the team on local needs in the region;
- Organizing, staffing, and providing follow up for the Senator’s events; and
- Preparing briefing, scheduling, and background documents for the Senator and other team members.
Ideal candidates should have ties to Colorado and are self-driven with strong time management and strategic thinking skills, as well as excellent communicators (written and verbal), and who understand the territory and communities to be served. We value a strong customer service ethic and a proactive approach with the ability to think about the big picture, as well as the ability to collaborate. Demonstrated team leadership, project and people management is a plus.

CONSTITUENT ADVOCATE - COLORADO (GREELEY-FT. COLLINS OR GRAND JUNCTION-GLENWOOD-ROARING FORK REGIONS)
Senator John Hickenlooper – a former geologist turned brewpub owner turned elected official – seeks a full-time Constituent Advocate – based in Northern or Western Colorado – to provide exceptional constituent services to all Coloradans. The role serves as a frontline liaison between constituents and federal agencies, such as United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, the Internal Revenue Service, Social Security Administration, the Veterans Administration, and a variety of other federal agencies.
Principal responsibilities of this position include:
- Responding to specific constituent inquiries that involve navigating federal agencies or processes on behalf of constituents
- Creative problem solving for constituents, some of whom have deadline driven and/or multiple needs
- Working within the Senate system for caseload management (Intranet Quorum)
- Managing an average caseload of 100+ cases that require attention from intake to completion
- Attending and sometimes building outreach events, such as “office hours in the community” to respond to casework in the field or with a specific population, e.g. veterans
- Representing the office in the community and special projects as needed.
Ideal candidates can work independently and are able to multi-task and prioritize cases on an ongoing basis. In addition, the job demands excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage with constituents in an empathetic, compassionate, patient and caring manner. The job also requires maintaining strict privacy requirements and the ability to remain discreet. Being bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus. Finally, the position requires having a strong sense of boundaries in order to serve constituents in the most professional manner.

The compensation for this full-time position is $58,500 annually and includes healthcare, retirement, federal student loan benefits for those who qualify, and generous paid time off. This position qualifies for overtime for work over 40 hours. The position reports to the Director of Constituent Affairs.

LEGISLATIVE CORRESPONDENT
Colorado Senator John Hickenlooper – a laid off geologist turned brewpub owner turned elected official – seeks a hard-working, entrepreneurial Legislative Correspondent to work on the Commerce Committee portfolio and other issues as assigned. The ideal candidate will have excellent research, writing, analytical, and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced office. The successful candidate will be a self-starter and detail oriented. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to drafting responses to constituent letters, preparing memos and legislative material for the Senator, and meeting with constituents and other stakeholders.
